Comparison to Ambronite

Ambronite offers a drinkable supermeal designed to make you thrive. They focus on using oats, nuts, and berries. Queal also uses oats in combination with soy, corn and whey protein. Each company has made their own choices regarding specific ingredients and nutritional composition. These are the differences you should consider when choosing which product to go with.

Let’s take a look at an overview of the nutritional differences of Queal Standard (700kcal) and Ambronite (500kcal).

Ambronite and Queal both are suitable for replacing a meal. Ambronite has decided to not add any vitamins and therefore 3 (or 4) meals per day will not get you to 100% off all essential nutrients. Queal uses a custom vitamin and mineral mix, and you could eat 3 meals of Queal to get your nutrients. Both products are vegetarian, Ambronite is even vegan. Both contain soy (Queal more than Ambronite) and Ambronite also contains nuts. Queal also has lactose and gluten.

Nutrients

Although the profile of both drinkable meals looks similar, they are quite different. They are both full of nutrients, but they are made in different ways. Ambronite is made with more fresh (and dried) produce, whilst Queal is made only from dried ingredients.

The biggest ingredient in both products is oats. They are a great source of complex carbohydrates, and also contain a lot of fibre, a bit of protein and some omega fatty acids. The grain oats in Ambronite are organic and with 52.6% of ingredients, the whole product is also an organic product.

The proteins in Queal come from whey protein (from the milk making process) where the proteins from Ambronite come from organic almonds and brown rice protein. This is what makes Queal vegetarian, but not vegan. Almonds are a great source of fats and protein, but of course not for someone with a nut allergy.

The micronutrients in Queal are balanced so that each of them is at least 33% of your daily reference intake (DRV/RDA/DRI/RI) per meal. Where the oats, corn, whey and other ingredients take care of most vitamins and minerals in Queal, some are added via a custom vitamin and mineral mix.

Ambronite doesn’t add any vitamins next to the ones already in the natural ingredients. This means that not every meal (500 calories) has 25% of each vitamin and mineral. Minerals like magnesium and manganese are present in the natural ingredients at high amounts (90% per meal), and you should take care to not eat Ambronite for every meal to prevent negative health consequences (e.g. diarrhoea from too much magnesium).

Ingredients

Both Queal and Ambronite are made from real food. They use different ingredients, both make a complete meal. Both also use some flavouring to make the meals taste as good as possible.

Ingredients Ambronite: Organic whole grain oats, organic almond, organic brown rice protein, organic coconut, organic apple, organic lucuma, organic flax seed, rice bran, organic stinging nettle leaf, nutritional yeast, bilberry, black currant, mineral salt, organic chlorella, organic spirulina, brazil nut, organic spinach, sea-buckthorn berry.

Ingredients Queal: Scottish Oats, Whey Protein, Soy Flour, Vegetable Oil, Inulin, Vitamin & Mineral Mix, Salt, Flavour (10 variations) & Sweetener.

Non-nutritional considerations

Queal and Ambronite are in friendly competition for selling the most amounts of meals to people all over the world. But the real competitor is malnutrition and the bad food habits that have taken over western countries.

Ambronite takes a more expensive (for consumers) route to improving these habits. The meals of Ambronite are more than 5 times more expensive than those of Queal, and therefore it’s not that available to the general population. Of course, for some the organic mix of ingredients might be worth the price.

We believe a great strength of Queal is the variety of products we offer. Not only can you choose from a wide range of flavours, you can also choose from 3 diet types. Queal recognises not everybody is the same, and different people have different dietary needs. This is why Queal offers three different variations of their recipe. Standard (2100kcal), Lite (1800kcal), and Athletic (2300kcal with higher % protein).

To Summarise

We are, of course, fans of Queal and its great products. We truly believe it offers an excellent choice in quick, complete, and affordable nutrition. After all, that’s a reason we created it in the first place!

But in the end, it’s your choice and responsibility to pick the best option out there for you. We’d love for you to try Queal, and even compare it with the other options in the market. Find out for yourself which you’d prefer. We’re betting you’ll come back to us soon enough.
