Comparison to Mana

Queal and Mana are two leading companies that offer complete meals to everyone in Europe. They are both good options and nutritionally they are both complete. Each company has made their own choices regarding specific ingredients and nutritional composition. These are the differences you should consider when choosing which product to go with.

Both Mana and Queal are based on EU nutrition guidelines (EFSA). Both are vegetarian. Because Mana makes use of vegan protein sources (as does Queal with the Vegan line) instead of whey protein, Mana is a 100% vegan as well. Besides lactose and gluten, both also contains soy.

Because Queal believes that nutrition isn't only about the food you buy, you can also find a personalised dashboard when you place an order. Here you can find your environmental impact (which both companies greatly reduce), other statistics and recipes. Mana is packaged per meal (calories depend on variation) and has great packaging design.

Queal Mana Comparison

Nutrients

Mana and Queal have a different nutritional profile. They have chosen to use different ingredients and therefore provide energy in a different way. Both do provide you with all the vitamins and minerals your body needs.

They are similar in the way that they use Maltodextrin for a balance of slow and fast carbohydrates. But Queal does use oats as the first ingredient, where in Mana it's only mentioned as part of the protein mix. A part of the Maltodextrin is classified as sugars and therefore both products have some sugar in there. This is all still half of the dietary reference values of the EFSA (Europe), WHO, and FDA (America, maximum of 50grams).

The protein used in Queal is whey protein. This is derived from the cheese-making process. It provides you with a full amino acid profile (building blocks of protein). The protein in Mana only comes from soy and pea protein, Queal Vegan also has rice protein to balance the amino acid profile.

Lastly, there is a difference in the way fats are added to the products. Mana uses Sunflower (seed) oil. Queal also uses flaxseed oil. Studies suggest that flaxseed may have additional benefits [1].

Ingredients

Both Queal and Mana are made from real food. They use different ingredients, both make a complete meal. And both have their own vitamin & mineral mix that tops up the micronutrients where needed.

Ingredients Mana: Soy Protein, Pea Protein, Oat (protein), Hemp protein, Rice protein, Algae protein, Maltodextrin,, Vegetable Oils, Oat Oil, Oat Beta-glucans, Isomaltulose, Inulin, Carrot Fibre, Vitamins & Minerals, Flavour (1 variation) & Sweetener

Ingredients Queal: Whole Grain Oats, Isomaltulose, Maltodextrin, (Whey or Rice&Pea) Protein, Soy Flour, Vegetable Oils, Vitamin & Mineral Mix, Flavour (10 variations) & Sweetener

Non-nutritional considerations

Queal and Mana are in friendly competition for selling the most amounts of meals to people all over the world. But the real competitor is malnutrition and the bad food habits that have taken over western countries.

Although everyone wants to eat a healthy meal, time constraints, knowledge or just plain laziness were barriers for people to change their habits. With Queal and Mana you know that you can have a complete meal at any time.
