Most process diagrams and locations follow our original sourcing guide. The three flows labelled typical processes are based on manufacturing research. Suppliers, production methods and recipes can change; these diagrams do not trace an individual batch. The current product label is the reference for ingredients and allergens. The whole grain
Oat flour
What it is
Oat flour is made by finely grinding whole oats. The bran, endosperm and germ all stay in the flour: the three parts that make it a whole-grain ingredient. The bran is particularly rich in fibre.
Where it comes from
Most of our oats come from the United Kingdom, with some sourced from Finland.

A flour that keeps its oils
Soy flour
What it is
Our soy flour is toasted and full-fat. That means the soy keeps its natural oils during processing. It contributes plant protein alongside the other ingredients in Steady.
Where it comes from
The soy is sourced across Europe and processed into flour in the Netherlands.

Protein from yellow peas
Pea protein
What it is
Pea protein is isolated from yellow peas, also known as Pisum sativum. It is a plant-based protein source. Pea and rice proteins are used together because their amino acid profiles complement one another.

The yellow peas used for our pea protein are sourced and processed in France.

What it is
Rice protein is a plant-based protein isolated from rice. It is combined with pea protein to give the blend a more balanced amino acid profile than rice protein alone.
Where it comes from
The rice protein used in our shakes is processed in the Netherlands. This processing location does not tell us where the rice was grown.

From sugar beet
Isomaltulose
What it is
Isomaltulose, also known as Palatinose, is a carbohydrate derived from sugar beet. It is one part of the carbohydrate blend in Steady, alongside maltodextrin and the flours.
Where it comes from
We source our isomaltulose from Germany. This names the ingredient sourcing location, rather than individual sugar-beet farms.

Carbohydrate from corn
Maltodextrin
What it is
Maltodextrin is made from cornstarch. In Steady it is mixed with isomaltulose, oat flour and soy flour as part of the carbohydrate blend.
Where it comes from
The corn is sourced from the Netherlands and Belgium. The maltodextrin is processed in Belgium.

Oil, in a powder
Sunflower oil
What it is
Sunflower oil comes from sunflower seeds. For our shakes, the oil is incorporated into a powder so it can be mixed directly with the other ingredients. There is no separate bottle of oil to add.
Where it comes from
The oil is processed in France. Most sunflower seeds also come from France, with some imported from Spain.

Also known as flaxseed oil
Linseed oil
What it is
Linseed oil comes from the dried seeds of the flax plant. The seeds are cold-pressed to release their oil, which is mixed directly into the meal powder along with the other ingredients.

The linseed is grown and the oil is processed in Belgium.

Small ingredients, carefully blended
Vitamin & mineral mix
What it is
The micronutrient mix is a fine powder, custom-made for the different product recipes. The vitamins and minerals come from both natural and synthetic sources. The product labels list the individual nutrients and their amounts.
Where it comes from
The vitamin and mineral mix is made in the Netherlands. This is the location of the blending step, rather than the origin of every individual micronutrient.

The ingredients come together
Many ingredients. One carefully mixed meal.
Queal is mixed in the Netherlands. Flours, proteins, carbohydrates, oils and the micronutrient mix become the base of the meal. The recipe then brings in the ingredients that give it its flavour, texture and consistency.
Bring the building blocks together
Each recipe combines its main ingredients in specific amounts. Steady and Ready use different blends; their product pages show the full recipes.
Add flavour and texture
Smaller ingredients also have a job to do. Depending on the recipe, these include flavourings, thickeners, raising agents, anti-caking agents, antioxidants and sweetener. Check the label for the exact ingredients in your product and flavour.
Make it your next meal
The ingredients are already combined. When it is time to eat, follow the preparation instructions for your Steady shake or Ready oatmeal.
